Mei Wah’s December 16th

Below is a short film entitled “Override” directed and written by Lisa Ginsburg featuring the song “Cold Comfort,” written by Jackie Strano and performed by The Hail Marys (with lovely back-up vocals by Judea Eden). Lisa had been a big fan of The Hail Marys and particularly loved “Cold Comfort” which inspired her to create not only a music video but a short film featuring the song. Override premiered at Frameline’s International Film Festival in San Francisco in 2000. Concert footage of the band was filmed in SF at Cafe Du Nord.

Jackie created a video with some images put together for their original song “Second Narrows” about immigrant and working class poetry and spirit, beauty of Vancouver, family love, company greed and the infamous bridge collapse that killed Jack’s namesake- their grandfather John (Jack) Wright, an ironworker with Vancouver’s Local Union 97

Jackie Strano performing with The Passengers at the first Fabulosa Fest in Guerneville singing Strano’s original tune ‘NOLA Deliver Me’ written about and for New Orleans. Strano lived and busked and played music there in the early 90’s.
